Info

1960 buehler turbocraft fiberglass 16 foot jet boat 2nd production year, very rare collectible boat, first jet boats produced in the the usa, powered by a ford y block 185 hp engine, with a hamilton jet pump.twin carbureted carter side draft carb’s. been sitting for quite sometime always in dry storage. i bought the boat from the second owner who bought the boat from the original owner when it was only a year old. i worked at a portland area boat shop in the portland area and ran the fiberglass shop. my service manager learned how to ski behind this boat, his best friend’s dad owned it. this boat was parked in storage because the engine mounts and the stringers near the mounts were dry rotted, you boat guys know that 90% of all stringers, engine, mounts etc.are wood with fiberglass overlay. right up my alley. anyway i have too many projects all cars, i’ll never get to this one. from what the owner told me this boat hauled ass being only a light 16 foot boat with a 185 hp v8 i can see why, the engine was fogged when it was put away, it does turn over, the fuel in the tank needs to be drained cleaned etc.the carbs probably need rebuilding,i got online and they have plenty of parts for these 292 interceptor ford y block engines etc.although the engine and hamilton jet drive unit are all original with nothing missing. it does come with extra parts, impellers, intake grate as seen on pics.the cool thing about the boat the floor is a completely removeable fiberglass liner(easy access) mounted with screws.boat is 99% original, even the gauges all say turbo craft on the faces, all the hardware original, including the windshield and frame which is fully intact.one of the cool plexiglass wing windows has a corner broken easily replaced as the the metal frame is fine an intact.also the trim tabs aren’t original but you could remove them, depending on the level of restoration you’re going for. interior is complete no tears or rips foam is firm. i think the interior will clean up nicely.i’d love to keep this historical boat and get it back on the water, i guess it’s a blast to drive but i’m getting up there in age and i’m more into my car projects, don’t have time for both, have clean oregon title for boat and trailer..also have some original manuals, brochures, original paperwork work etc.as seen in pics.ph#
